Go on a staycation.

In 2017, the Department of Tourism recognized 19 hotels for being universally accessible in celebration of World Tourism Day. Check out this list if you plan to go on holiday any time soon.

Go see a movie.

Did you know that in Quezon City, Persons with Disabilities (PWD) with PWD IDs can avail of free entrance to movie theaters (and see up to two movies) on Mondays and Tuesdays until 5 pm? In Antipolo City, free film viewing for PWDs is on Mondays. But this doesn’t cover IMAX and 3D screenings as well as blockbuster movies on their first week of showing.

Go on a playdate.

If you have a child with special needs, most spaces at Kidzania are wheelchair accessible. You may also avail of the PWD discount when you present your PWD ID at the entrance. Special dietary needs are also honored and you are allowed to bring in food as long as it’s declared at the entrance. You can visit Kidzania Manila’s website or call +63 2 711 5439 for more information.

Go around town.

In Marikina City, remodeled tricycles were introduced in 2016 to accommodate PWDs. Braille tiles to aid the blind were installed along sidewalks of the city hall, health center, and public market. Earlier in 2013, Makati launched pedestrian lanes designated for PWDs.

Go on an art trip.

Art in Island in Cubao offers PWD discount, and visiting it is a fun way to spend your day. The art installations are interactive (you’re allowed to touch and take selfies with them) and friendly for those with special needs. You can call +63 2 421 1356 to inquire.

Going on more adventures? Add these PWD-friendly to your list: Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Manila Ocean Park, Rizal Park.
