Three pet-friendly cafes where you can bring (and meet!) your furry friends

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

These days, pet-friendly restaurants are plenty. We can bring our four-legged friends in popular eateries around Ayala Triangle Gardens, Bonifacio Global City, and Rockwell Center.

My Pope goes a step further to introduce animal lovers to a cat-friendly café, a place that serves dog food as well as human food, and a café with resident pooches.

If you’re a cat person and coffee lover: Go to Commune Cafe + Bar

The orange tabby Mirage is a fixture at Commune, a hip bar and café in Poblacion, Makati, that takes pride in its quality Philippine coffee sourced from Benguet, Sagada, South Cotabato, Kapatagan, and Bukidnon. Pair your favorite hot or cold brew with any of its sandwiches, salads, pastas, Pinoy breakfasts, and rice bowls. Another reason to come back? The events! Intimate writing workshops, coffee-making courses, alternative healing seminars, and others are scheduled each month. Visit 36 Polaris corner Durban Streets, Poblacion, Makati City.

If you want your fluffy friend to eat when you do: Go to Whole Pet Kitchen

The home-based pet deli and bakery (or “barkery”) serves everything from muffins and pastries to “pupsicles,” lasagna, risotto, and vet-approved dog food using fresh human-grade ingredients (beef and rice, chicken and squash, buffalo and veggies, and the like). Pet owners can choose between sweets and savories: the menu includes sandwiches, waffles, pasta, and hot and cold drinks. Drop by 175 M. Paterno Street, Barangay Pasadena, San Juan, Metro Manila. Email to inquire about custom-made treats for sensitive dogs.

If you are a dog lover without a dog: Go to Barkin’ Blends

Barkin’ Blends is a dog café that allows dog lovers who aren’t dog owners to enjoy the company of man’s best friend through the café’s resident pooches—over 30 of them! To enter the Dog Zone, purchase a single-entry ticket for P219 (the 2-hour visit is inclusive of one free drink). Leave your footwear in a locker and change into slippers before mingling with fur balls like golden retrievers Marley, Robin, and Finn; lhasa apsos Yoda, Vader, and Booster; and poodles Bonnie, Clyde, and Coco. You can also just come for the food and drinks. Burgers, pastas, and hot and cold coffees and teas are the specialties of this unique hangout that now has two branches: head over to The Brick Road, Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall, Cainta, Rizal, or SM North Tower, Quezon City.
