There’s a new chicken place in Makati, and it’s making waves thanks to its millennial-style dishes!
On Wednesday, August 21, Birdhouse opened its newest branch in Food Choices, Glorietta 4. The chicken joint that is known for its quirky menu has a wide variety of food choices to offer––particularly in its niche, fried chicken recipes.
As one of Relish Group’s (the same folks behind Rock & Seoul, Wee Nam Kee, Kumori Café, and Osaka Osho) ventures, Birdhouse can be considered an upgraded version of your typical chicken place. Its fried chicken recipes taste like no other––thanks to its “millennial-style” concoctions that appeal to all ages!
“What makes Birdhouse unique from other chicken joints is that we serve millennial-style fried chicken,” says Jayson Sio, franchise owner of Birdhouse Glorietta. “This means that the flavor in our chicken doesn’t simply come from the breading. Our chicken takes days to prepare as we do marinating and brining to bring out the flavors,” Jayson added. That’s good news to a generation that takes pride in its discerning taste and attention to craftsmanship and detail.
With such a promising new chicken place in town, My Pope made sure not to miss out on Birdhouse’s specialty dishes. Luckily for us, Jayson was gracious enough to walk us through the restaurant and give us a taste of his personal favorites.
Barnyard B (181php)
Served with one piece chicken, crispy chicken skin, a side dish, and a sauce of your personal choosing, Barnyard B is one hefty plate that is sure to satisfy your appetite! True enough, the savory crispy chicken itself is already fulfilling, but the sauce adds a twist to the dish that perfectly accentuates all its flavors. The chicken skin is also one to note—its crunchy, mouthwatering flavors can be even more addicting when dipped in the sauce!
My Pope Recommendation: Try Mac & Cheese for the side dish and Garlic Ranch for the sauce!
Roasted Garlic Parmesan Wings (205php for 6pcs)
Another Birdhouse favorite, the Roasted Garlic Parmesan Wings is made with brined chicken wings seasoned with loads of garlic and parmesan cheese. Its melt-in-your-mouth flavor leaves customers craving for more––and what makes it even better is that it’s also available in a 12-piece serving!
My Pope Recommendation: Pair your Roasted Garlic Parmesan Wings with a glass of peach iced tea to balance out the flavors!
For the whole barkada: Mother Clucker (1,499php)
This Birdhouse treat gathers all of the restaurant’s specialty dishes in one serving––perfect for the whole barkada! For only 1,499 pesos, get to enjoy 6 pieces of signature Birdhouse fried chicken, 3 sauces of your choosing, 5 servings of Dirty Rice, 6 side dishes, 1 Waffle and Ice Cream with Crispy Chicken Skin, and a 1.5L Regular Coke. Now, isn’t that worth the price?
My Pope Recommendation: Make sure to try Birdhouse’s Dirty Rice! Exclusive only to Birdhouse, the Dirty Rice is a special type of rice that is made with chicken liver––bringing out a savory taste in every bite!
