Filipino celebrities are rallying their fans and followers to pray for the speedy recovery of veteran actor Eddie Garcia.
Over the weekend, the Philippine entertainment industry has been shaken with news about the 90-year-old actor being involved in an accident during a taping session on Saturday morning.
Garcia, known by many as one of the most versatile actors in the country’s movie and television industry, was reportedly in the middle of shooting for “Rosang Agimat” when he fell to the ground and was knocked unconscious. He was immediately brought to the Mary Johnston Hospital in Tondo for examination and was transferred to the Makati Medical Center a few hours later.
In an official statement released by Garcia’s family, it was revealed that Garcia suffered a neck fracture after tripping on a cable wire. “The doctors ruled out heart attack and stroke as proven by several validating tests done in Mary Johnston hospital. He is in critical condition due to severe cervical fracture,” the family wrote.

Garcia’s friends and co-workers from showbusiness were quick to express their concern and well-wishes for the veteran actor. Among the first to extend his prayers was seasoned singer and songwriter, Ogie Alcasid, who took to Twitter to encourage everyone to pray for Garcia.
Dear friends, let us please pray for our tito Eddie Garcia.— ogie alcasid (@ogiealcasid) June 8, 2019
Comedienne Vice Ganda also expressed prayers for Garcia. The two starred together in the 2011 blockbuster movie, Praybeyt Benjamin.

GMA Network actress Chynna Ortaleza also tweeted about Garcia, mentioning how her musician father Gryk used to tell her stories about the veteran actor and his “exceptional way of being.”

Praying for you & your exceptional way of being. 🙏🏻
But the most heartwarming show of support of all came in the form of Megastar Sharon Cuneta’s Instagram post, where she called the veteran actor a “living legend” who has always been “health-conscious and disciplined.”

Please, everyone, my prayer warriors, pray with me for my Tito Eddie Garcia. He played my Daddy in my first movie and was my co-star in several others. He directed my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th movies, and a couple more, and a big part of all I have learned in terms of acting, work ethic, professionalism came from HIM. He is so precious to me. I consider myself very blessed to have been taught and handled by him, and feel bad that as he stopped directing soon after the last movie he directed with me in it, so many new stars have never and will never experience having Mr. Eddie Garcia as a director, mentor and teacher. He is someone I truly love and care for. Please help me pray for his full recovery. He has always been health-conscious and disciplined, and if we lose this living legend, it will be the end of an era in all of Showbusiness. Thank you so much.
As of writing, Garcia is still in a deep sleep. The actor was put on a 48-hour “critical observation” to see if his situation improves. The good news is that CT scan results have shown that the actor’s brain is in normal condition.
