UP Press Off Campus Bookstore

Book lovers—and clubs, rejoice!

UPper Shelf, the first off-campus bookstore of the University of the Philippines Press (UP Press), is inviting books clubs based in the Philippines to hold their events at the bookstore with absolutely no charge whatsoever.

Philippine book clubs may hold their events in the bookstore for free as long as they choose a UP Press title and feature it on their website, forums, social media accounts, and other platforms. The book club also needs to feature their chosen title in an exclusive event that will be organized by the book club together with the UP Press team. To make things even more exciting, the author of the club’s chosen book will be invited as a special guest. Events can range from casual club meet-ups to dynamic reading sessions. Book signings are also a popular option. And of course, food and drinks are allowed to be served.

UPper Shelf is located at Phase 2, Space no. C236, 2nd floor, UP Town Center, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City.

The UP Press has recently launched titles such as Fantasy: Filipino Fiction For Young Adults by Dean Francis Alfar and Kenneth Yu, Ang Tatay Kong Cochero at Iba Pang Kuwento by Jimmuel C. Naval, and How to Pacify a Distraught Infant: stories by Anna Felicia C. Sanchez et. al. It is the official publishing house of the University of the Philippines and is the first university press in the country. It was established in 1965 with a mandate to publish important and groundbreaking works. Titles published in the press are usual participants and winners of various local and international competitions such as the National Book Awards of the Manila Critics Circle, the Madrigal Gonzales Best First Book Award, and the Outstanding Book of the Year Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology.
