Cinemalaya 2018’s Best Film, “Kung Paano Hinintay ang Dapithapon,” won the Audience Choice Award at the 25th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema held in France on Tuesday, February 12.
The film, which won the award alongside Mona Zandi Haghighi’s “African Violet,” conveys a significant message about love and forgiveness as it sheds light on the unconventional situation of its three lead characters. It stars veteran actors Perla Bautista, Menggie Cobarrubias, and Dante Rivero who play the roles of an unmarried elderly couple and an estranged husband who is ill and asking for care.
The film’s director, Carlo Enciso Catu, took to Facebook to express his gratitude to everyone who watched and supported the movie. “Thank you to all who watched and voted our film to be this year’s Festival International des Cinemas d’Asie de Vesoul Audience Choice Award together with my personal favorite, African Violet. Your warmness fill my heart very much!” he wrote.
“Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon” is among the film entries to the 14th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival where it won the Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Screenplay, and NETPAC Jury awards.
