Pinoy Celebs Hold Donation Drives to Help in the COVID-19 Crisis

With the widespread effect of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, it’s wonderful to see how some of our favorite celebrities use their talent, platforms, and big hearts to help in mitigating the risks associated with the coronavirus disease and providing assistance to those in need during these times of uncertainty.


Here are all the ways your favorite celebs are making ends meet to help out in the outbreak:

Ben & Ben


Our favorite folk indie band, Ben & Ben has recently announced that they will be holding a fundraiser online entitled “Puhon: A Ben&Ben FB Live Event for the COVID-19 Efforts.” But even before its debut on March 27, it has already raised PHP 1 million to provide help for the frontliners and urban poor community affected by the coronavirus pandemic.


According to Ben & Ben, the target amount for donations is PHP 5 million. And all proceeds from this project will be used to buy COVID19 test kits, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and nutrition support for frontline healthcare workers, and relief goods for daily wage earners.

Maine Mendoza


Actress Maine Mendoza is once again proving that she is worthy of people’s admiration. The popular Eat Bulaga host is using her social media influencer status to good use by spearheading “DoNation Drive” which hopes to raise funds to help workers affected by the Luzon-wide quarantine and to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Bela Padilla


In an effort to lessen the struggle of Filipinos amid the COVID-19 pandemic, actress Bela Padilla and her team started a fundraising initiative which got P3.3 million in two days. The young actress handed out food and grocery supplies to citizens from different cities in the Metro with the help of the Philippine Army. She also gave some supplies to other uniformed personnel manning the checkpoints.

 Ryan Cayabyab


The National Artist for Music, along with the countryʼs top singers and musicians, has already raised Php 2,852,000 through a series of live concerts in Facebook entitled “Bayanihan Musikahan.” According to Cayabyab, all the proceeds from this project will be used to support the urban poor of Metro Manila during the time of quarantine.
