This New ‘Cactus Leather’ Will Save Lives Of 1 Billion Animals Per Year

Cactus Leather

It’s no secret that some fashion houses and brands are relentlessly using animals for fur coats and leather boots. According to an article form PETA, an American animal rights organization, the global leather industry slaughters more than one billion exotic animals each year for their skin. But thanks to two entrepreneurs who found a perfect alternative, the global animal trade for fashion might end soon.

With the purpose of creating an alternative to animal leather, Adrian Lopez Velarde and Marte Cazaraz came up with DESSERTO, a brand that produces Cactus leather that would hopefully soon replace the use of animal leather and other synthetic materials.

The Cactus leather is reported to be rugged, hard, and thick like genuine leather with high resistance and durability up to 10 years. Moreover, the brand has adopted natural dyes for processing the Cactus leather that does not impact the environment.

The best part about the Cactus leather is that it is partially biodegradable since it is created from a plant. It also means that the cactus leather will also be useful in reversing the effects of climate change.

The time has come to start doing things in a different way. Thumbs up to these entrepreneurs for coming up with a sustainable and environment-friendly alternative to animal leather.
