Filipino actor Enchong Dee just helped break a Guinness World Record, and it’s all for a good cause!

On Sunday, June 23, Enchong shared in his Instagram account how he, together with the Bert Lozada Swim School, organized a swim event called #HandogPalangoyNiEnchong.

The event––which aimed to teach basic swimming skills and water safety to elementary students from public schools, children with special needs, and children from orphanages, indigenous communities, and local government units––broke a world record after it successfully gathered and taught a total of 1,819 kids in a single venue in just one day.

“Today, we broke the Guinness world record for the most number of children being taught basic swimming skills and water safety in one day,” Enchong wrote in his Instagram post. “We had approximately 1,800 Filipino Kids in @aquaplanetph with @bertlozadaswimschool partnering with #HandogPalangoyNiEnchong. Let’s take part for a #DrownFreePhilippines.”

This is the second year that Aqua Planet hosted a swimming event for children. Enchong, on the other hand, has been giving free swimming lessons to indigent children for years now. It is known by many that the 30-year-old actor is a professional swimmer, having been part of the Philippine national swimming team and previously participating in the Southeast Asian Games and 2006 Asian Games.

The world record for the largest swimming lesson in a single venue is currently held by a waterpark in Florida, United States, which had a total of 1,308 participants on June 20, 2014. According to Aqua Planet, they are still awaiting confirmation from the World Waterpark Association and Guinness World Records for successfully breaking the record.
