The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), in partnership with the British Council is again calling on local and international artists to help make the revetment walls of Pasig River “visible through art.”
The Pasig River played a very important role in the country’s history and economic growth but has been neglected and polluted in the past decades. Today, however, after a decade of dedicated rehabilitation programs, the Pasig river is finally rising from the dirt.
For years, the Pasig River Art for Urban Change has been a platform for artistic creation and collaboration around the metro. This year, they are back for the “Pasig River Art for Urban Change Phase II” that aims to create more livable cities by inviting artists to use the façade of revetment walls as blank canvases for creative expression.
This event enables the access of public spaces for artistic expression while raising awareness on the importance of rivers among the citizen.
In the midst of the issue of art versus vandalism in the Philippines, you cannot deny the fact that murals, and even vandals at times, add vibrancy and diversity to our arts and culture.

A total of 27 artists will be invited to paint the walls which is 13.5 kilometers long. Twenty-two local artist and five international artists will be given the chance to show their craftmanship and artistic skills.
