Here’s how you can help those affected by the Taal Volcano eruption

In the past few days, we have seen the Taal Volcano all over the news. It has been spewing ash almost nonstop and even spewed a lava fountain on Monday, January 13. With this and the impending violent eruption of the volcano, residents around the vicinity of Taal were forced to evacuate their homes as the eruption poses a threat to their health and safety.


Evacuees are currently sleeping in covered courts, gymnasiums, and other large venues that are deemed safe from the eruption. These evacuees have left their homes, bringing only a few clothes and almost no other necessities (blankets, medicines, etc.) with them.

The Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has said that this eruption could take days or even months, which means evacuees might not be able to return to their homes soon. Different organizations are calling for donations of blankets, drinking water and food, face masks, and other necessities for those affected by this disaster.

You can also offer a little prayer for the victims to ask for the evacuees’ safety and the safety of those who are assessing the situation and helping with the relief efforts.
