Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is bringing her signature charm to the next level as she was introduced as the new arts ambassador of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). The announcement was made on Tuesday, January 28, during the launch of this year’s National Arts Month.

“Such an honor to be recognized as the 2020 Ambassador for the Arts by the Philippine National Commission of Culture and Arts,” said Gray on her Instagram post. Alongside her are singers Julie Ann San Jose and KZ Tandingan as ambassadors for music

Catriona drew praise and admiration for her patriotic wardrobe during her Miss Universe bid. Her Mayon-inspired gown and jewelries that symbolize the Philippine flag earned the love of not only Filipinos, but foreign fans as well.

“I believe artists always create with intention. And in my pursuit to conquer my universe and to achieve my dream I sought to take the opportunity to celebrate our national Philippine heritage, art, history, textiles, music and dance to bring forth a newfound interest in Philippine Arts to the younger generation,” says Catriona, who seems to be quite skilled in the arts herself (check out her artworks in her Instagram feed to see what we mean).

As the Philippines’ leading agency in promoting arts and culture, the NCCA is once again calling all Filipinos to celebrate National Arts Month this February.

The annual celebration will be composed of the flagship projects of SCA’s seven national committees—Architecture, Cinema, Dance, Literary Arts, Music, Dramatic Arts, and Visual Arts—which will be held in different venues all over the country.

With the theme, “Ani ng Sining,” various activities are in store not just for artists but also for ordinary citizens. For the whole month of February, exhibits, workshops, concerts, lectures, and tours will be held, which highlight the Filipino heritage and sense of creativity.
