Twice as blessed! What is life like with a twin?

Tanada Twins

When you share the same womb with a sibling for nine months, you’re bound to be super-close, right?

Perhaps that explains the uncanny connection between twins. Talk about bonding even before you two were born!

My Pope Philippines’ junior accountant, 26-year-old Lady Reiveka M. Tañada, and her “younger” sister (by one minute!), business development director, Lady Rozanne M. Tañada, know of the special twin connection from experience. The girls explain what it was like growing up in twinning outfits and how, despite being mistaken for the other, are unique individuals, each with their own interests and lives outside of being the proverbial two peas in a pod.

How can people tell you apart?

Rozanne: Reiveka has a mole near her upper right lip and yung body size namin magkaiba: Ako yung “malusog” siya yung ‘di “malusog,” ‘di din “tag gutom” type.

Reiveka: My twin sister has a mole on her forehead. And sometimes they can tell us apart by the size of our body. I’m slimmer than her.

Growing up, did your parents dress you the same way?

Lalo na ‘pag nag-Church kami, lagi kaming naka dress at same style. Cute daw

Rozanne: Hanggang sa kinalakihan na namin. Even now that we are 26 we still have the same clothes but fewer na. Especially when we celebrate our birthday we always wear the same clothes, siguro kinalakihan na talaga namin siya.

Have you fooled people into thinking you are your sister?

Rozanne: We wanna try pero it’s too late na since ‘di na kami ganun magkamukha. But when we were together, like in high school and college, some of my professors and friends would call me Reiveka and some of her friends would call her Rozanne.

Reiveka: Actually, never namin naisip na manloko ng tao about us being twins.

How alike and different are you from your twin?

Rozanne: Super alike. We love playing volleyball. We never dance and we never sing pero ‘yung singing sa Karaoke fave din namin ni Kambal. We still have our toys ‘nung bata pa kami, ‘di namin ‘yung pinapamigay or tinatapon, we even play with them sa weekend.

Is it true that twins have a “special connection”?

Rozanne: Connections, yes, kasi ‘kung ano yung iniisip ko nagkakataon Reiveka is thinking the same thing. Like ‘yung tanungin kami ng friends namin what our favorite TV show is, we say Showtime, then ‘pag break time ‘yung mapapaisip ako na gusto ko ng Yakisoba siya din pala

Then ‘yung mga moment na umiiyak ako bigla nalang siya niiyak for no reason.

Do you always do things together? Or do you have your own separate lives?

Rozanne: Yes we always do things together. Especially food trip and movie trip, we just buy chips at the store and watch Netflix with our Ate and Mom. Ang separate lives lang namin is kapag umaakyat siya ng bundok and ‘pag kasama niya boyfriend niya. Ayoko nga maging third wheel, hehehe.

Reiveka: Ngayon kasi I have a boyfriend so I always spend time with him. Pero ‘kung magkakaayan naman kami, like to watch movies, have milk tea o eat somewhere, I spend time with her kasi nakaka-miss din kabonding siya

We know the advantage to having a twin. Is there a disadvantage?

Reiveka: Disadvantage is ‘yung comparing na ‘kung sino mas maganda, mabait, at masipag. Pero sanay na din ako lagi ko na lang sinasabi naSi Zanne’’ para no need for explanations pa.

Rozanne: Disadvantage is I’m not sure what I’m gonna do if I lose my twin sister. Hindi ko kaya, sobra kong love ‘yung kakambal ko so I’m always praying to God that He will give us a long life and someday we will be in Heaven with Him.

Do you feel blessed to have a twin?

Reiveka: YES. Thankful ako kay God na He gave me a twin sister like her. Kasi may iba magkakambal na ‘di magkasundo and thankful ako sobrang magkasundo kami ni Zanne. And sobrang open kami with each other like kami lang nakakaalam at nakakaintindi. Masaya ako na may kakambal ako at love ko siya kahit anong mangyari. Mag-away man kami nagbabati naman kami agad. Alam ko lagi akong may kakampi.

Rozanne: Yes, she’s a blessing from God. Because alam mong may tatakbuhan ka at may kakampi ka. May times na nag-aaway kami pero wala pang one minute bati na, walang sorry-sorry, bigla nalang kami magpapansinan ‘pag may bagay kami napagtampuhan. ‘Di ‘yun big deal sa amin, mas big deal is ‘yung pagiging magkapatid namin.

I’m blessed to have a twin sister, so Thank you, God!
