Every year, Lolo Kiko receives thousands of birthday presents from people all over the world. Through everything from simple birthday cards to limited-edition luxury items, the Pope’s fans never fail to find ways to express their love and appreciation for the Santo Papa. And although it is unlikely that the Pope will ask for presents on his birthday, we listed down a few non-material things that he will most likely appreciate on his special day. Be inspired—or think of something extra-special on your own!
Take your cue from the Pope’s favorites: Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart. Keep in mind that he enjoyed the tango in his youth, so try including icons, Carlos Gardel and Ada Falcon, on the list. While you’re at it, get some inspiration from the pontiff’s very own album, Wake Up! The progressive rock album is full of the Pope’s inspiring words in English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese—most of them set to soaring trumpets and nifty guitar riffs. No wonder the Santo Papa is dubbed as “The Coolest Pope Ever!”
While peace for all mankind was on his Christmas wish list last year, we understand that this is something that Pope Francis will want for all time. This means peace in our hearts, souls, and actions—and not just with others, but also with ourselves. “Everyone needs peaceful co-existence. But this can grow only when we also build inner peace in our heart,” Pope Francis said in a video message in the 2016 Katholikentag, a gathering among German Catholics. Start with cultivating a sense of peace within yourself, and you can achieve big things in your own little way.

“Pray for me,” said Pope Francis on his first Angelus, and it has become a recurring request from the pontiff. Here are two prayers that you can say for him:
Almighty and Everlasting God, have mercy on Your servant, Pope Francis, our Supreme Pontiff, and direct him, according to Your loving kindness, in the way of eternal salvation, that with Your help he may ever desire that which is pleasing to You and accomplish it with all his strength. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Lord Jesus, shelter our Holy Father the pope under the protection of Your Sacred Heart. Be his light, his strength, and his consolation.
