Warning: These two well-loved films will make you hungry!

These films won’t just make you feel like eating, they will also make you want to gather your family and friends for a hearty meal!

Julie and Julia

This 2009 film by Nora Ephron was adapted from two books: Julia Child’s autobiography My Life in France and Julie Powell’s memoir Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen. Watch the two women’s stories intertwine in a magical gastronomy. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll cheer Julie on and you’ll be amazed as always as Meryl Streep plays Julia Child almost perfectly. Relish watching two women separated by time and space, brought together by courage, passion, and a love for butter. Available on Netflix.

My Pope Tip: This film won’t just make you feel like eating, it will make you feel like cooking! Get ready to spend some time in the kitchen.

Namets!

Watch the ongoing flirtation between Jacko and Cassie in this delightful movie about food, love, and love for food. Jacko (Christian Vasquez) loses his Italian restaurant, Puccini’s, when he pays off a cockfighting debt. Boss Dolpo (Peque Gallaga) takes over and hires Cassie (Angel Jacob) to revamp the restaurant into one that serves only Negrense cuisine. This local romantic comedy will leave you hungry for La Paz Batchoy, chicken inasal, and Napoleones! Available on Amazon for P1,606.

My Pope Tip: You’ll need more than popcorn when you watch this flick! Make a dinner date for the nearest Negrense restaurant, or better yet, snag an invite to the home of an Ilonggo friend!
